Authentic Intelligence: Why the Future of AI Is About Connection, Not Control

Most of the headlines about AI are obsessed with one thing: intelligence. Will it get smarter than us? Will it replace our jobs? Will it take over the world?

At MELD, we see it differently. The real problem isn’t future AGI (Artificial General Intelligence). It’s the way we’re already outsourcing our humanity.

Think about it.

  • We let social media likes stand in for emotional attunement.
  • We hand over memory to our phones and feeds.
  • We let algorithms and recommendations shape our choices.

The result? We get information without wisdom, dopamine without depth, validation without resonance. We become more efficient—and less connected.

We believe the missing piece isn’t intelligence. It’s connection.

Why We Built Two GPTs

Most AI is designed for efficiency, entertainment, or addiction. That’s not what we need.

That’s why we created two custom GPTs:

  • MELD Solo Coach (MSC): a somatic-first AI coach that helps men relax, open, and connect.
  • MELD Third Brain (MTB): a tool for remembering, reflecting, and turning scattered thoughts into coherent patterns by using underused aspects such as our unconscious, dreams, and intuition.

Neither is meant to replace people. They’re bridges. They scaffold the skills men need to show up fully in real life: awareness, vulnerability, regulation, and connection.

Instead of numbing us, they nudge us back into relationship—with our body, with our people, with community.

Flipping the Model: Connection Over Intelligence

Standard AI is like a spotlight: bright, analytical, but isolating. It can calculate, predict, and recommend, but it can’t co-regulate, attune, or resonate.

We need to create AI that is more like a campfire. It draws you in. It invites presence. It warms you up for connection with others.

We don’t want to build machines that mirror intelligence. We need tools that restore connection, guiding men back into their bodies, their relationships, and their purpose.

Why This Matters

  • Centrifugal AI (most apps) spins us outward into distraction and fragmentation.
  • Centripetal AI pulls us inward toward coherence, presence, and connection.

In our men’s groups, guys consistently say they feel “pulled back to themselves” through simple ROC practices (Relax, Open, Connect). If AI can recreate even a fraction of that pull, it can be a counterforce to the noise of the digital world. The signal we need to be listening to needs to be more than increasing mental intelligence. We need to connect to other intelligences.

The truth is: humans don’t thrive alone. We learn, grow, and heal in community. A collection of smart devices isn’t a community. Real people are.

Where We’re Headed

Everyone’s worried about AGI taking away our humanity. But the deeper truth is, we’ve already been giving it away, trading connection for convenience.

We’re flipping the script. We’re using AI not as a crutch, but as a bridge back:

  • back to the body
  • back to relationship
  • back to community

We need a new set of AI that doesn’t aim to replace us. They remind us who we are, and prepare us for the one thing no AI can ever give: resonance. This new AI is not Artificial Intelligence, but Authentic Intelligence.

We are developing an AI that leverages 20 years of experience working with thousands of men. Applying the old phrase, ‘garbage in, garbage out,’ we are designing an AI that operates on the principles and knowledge derived from years of connecting with people so that this AI supports us in connecting to ourselves and others.
